“Bored To Death” Returns on HBO

21 09 2010

This Sunday, September 26th, the second season of “Bored To Death” returns to HBO. The show stars Jason Schwartzman as the real life writer Jonathan Ames alter ego, who poses as a private detective on Craigslist out of boredom and a broken heart. The first season was well-received by critics and fans alike, and features all kinds of great Brooklyn locations that New Yorkers can relate to. Part comedy, part detective “noir”, “Bored To Death” has struck a chord with viewers for its witty humor, excessive weed smoking and a solid supporting cast. Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover), Ted Danson, and John Hodgman add to the great mix of characters, and guest stars galore make it apparent that this show is going to be around for a while.

DJ Z-Trip Invades Colorado

18 12 2009

America’s Best DJ (DJ Times and ClubDistrict.com) Z-Trip blazed through Colorado in a whirlwind weekend with a Friday night show in Denver, a quick flight back to Los Angeles to accept the 2009 Spike Video Game Award for DJ Hero on Saturday, then turned around and flew back to get some shred on at local Summit County resorts Copper Mountain and Keystone Resort. It’s the life of a man on the move, and with Z-Trips schedule, there’s no time to spare.

Z Trip headlined the sold out show at the Ogden Theater with a worthy opening act in misty Canadian DJ Kid Koala, creator of graphic novels, soundtracks, album and, as he puts it, “new tours including but not limited to: a puppet musical about a robot who works at a cookie factory (complete with turntable orchestra pit), a quiet-time headphone/beanbag tour for the non-dancing listeners, and a hilarious Roller-rink tour which should be fun for the whole family.” Read the rest of this entry »

Swollen Members Hip Hop Halloween

2 11 2009

Swollen Members is on the road right now promoting their new album Armed To The Teeth. Along with Big B, (with the Denver Diggers’ DJ Klaw), Common Market, and Bliss N Esso, Swollen Members are slaughtering stages from Oregon to Ontario. In what seemed like a perfect holiday for hip hop’s most Dungeons and Dragons-derived rap group, the tour showed up in Denver just in time for Halloween.

Once again, Denver’s intimate Marquis Theater played host to an underground hip hop show. The all-ages venue is a good mix of everything—with a solid sound system, a multi-leveled viewing area, easy access full bar, and NY style pizza slices right on site. For Halloween the place was packed with creepy characters and party people ready to ring in All Hallows’ Eve with the Battle Axe Warriors. Read the rest of this entry »

Ghostface’s Wizard of Poetry Tour

1 11 2009

Ghostface just wrapped up his Wizard of Poetry Tour in Colorado over Halloween weekend with his usual entourage of hard hitting hype men. On Friday Ghost tore down the Bluebird Theater in Denver, while on Halloween night it was up to Fox in the college epicenter of Boulder. Both venues have a long tradition of hosting great hip hop acts, and the crowds to support them.

The freaks were out in force all week long in Denver, as everyone was into the holiday spirit. Immediately after Ghost did his thing at the Bluebird, Denver Diggers’ DJ Klaw was spinning a party at a new spot called Casslemans for a Frank151 x LikeMe.Net pre Halloween bash.

Trice, another Wu disciple next on deck, is down with Frank. Read the rest of this entry »
