“Bored To Death” Returns on HBO

21 09 2010

This Sunday, September 26th, the second season of “Bored To Death” returns to HBO. The show stars Jason Schwartzman as the real life writer Jonathan Ames alter ego, who poses as a private detective on Craigslist out of boredom and a broken heart. The first season was well-received by critics and fans alike, and features all kinds of great Brooklyn locations that New Yorkers can relate to. Part comedy, part detective “noir”, “Bored To Death” has struck a chord with viewers for its witty humor, excessive weed smoking and a solid supporting cast. Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover), Ted Danson, and John Hodgman add to the great mix of characters, and guest stars galore make it apparent that this show is going to be around for a while.

SoCal 4th of July Weekend

5 07 2009

SoCal in the Summer is a special time of the year. Fireworks, friends and families all come together to celebrate America’s Independence. Although from my recent reading of David McCollough’s John Adams, I learned that the Continental Congress actually first voted for independence on July 2nd, 1776, then after another day of debate and revisions approved the Declaration on July 4. Nonetheless, the date lives in infamy in the USA and has forever since been a reminder of the tremendous personal sacrifice and dedication of the brave patriots of that era, particularly John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, who penned that monumental manuscript.

Home base in SoCal is Capistrano Beach, a hidden gem nestled in between San Clemente and Dana Point. Beautiful views from the bluff of the harbor and Doheny Beach below provide an idyllic setting to take in the cool ocean breeze. The backyard, which just a few years ago was a barren plot of weeds and dead grass, has been transformed in a jungle oasis thanks to California’s natural tendency for growth and a little good ol’ fashioned gardening. Return of the Stuntman

21 04 2009

After a long hiatus, I finally got the chance to go back to New York to revisit an alternate profession last week. To switch it up every now and then, occasionally I get to act like I’m an actual stuntman.

Yeah, stuntman. Like The Fall Guy. Okay, so maybe I’m no Colt Seavers, but I have been lucky enough to act in a couple projects. The first one, Brooklyn Rules was a few years ago and it was only a small role but it definitely gave me “the itch”. After that I attended the International Stunt School in Seattle to hone my skills as a utility stuntman. Dave Boushey is a merciless instructor and it was a grueling three weeks of training, but in the end it paid off and taught me valuable trade techniques that will stay with me forever. Last week, Oakley invited SNOWBOARD Mag to New York City to wine, dine, and enlighten us about the plethora of endless technology and new innovations Oakley has in store this fall. The week began Tuesday evening for cocktails at Above Allen on the 7th floor of the Thompson LES Hotel; LES of course standing for the Lower East Side of Manhattan. There we met up with the PR girls from Oakley, athletes and many media peeps that had joined us from across the globe for a week of fun in the Big Apple.
