“Bored To Death” Returns on HBO

21 09 2010

This Sunday, September 26th, the second season of “Bored To Death” returns to HBO. The show stars Jason Schwartzman as the real life writer Jonathan Ames alter ego, who poses as a private detective on Craigslist out of boredom and a broken heart. The first season was well-received by critics and fans alike, and features all kinds of great Brooklyn locations that New Yorkers can relate to. Part comedy, part detective “noir”, “Bored To Death” has struck a chord with viewers for its witty humor, excessive weed smoking and a solid supporting cast. Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover), Ted Danson, and John Hodgman add to the great mix of characters, and guest stars galore make it apparent that this show is going to be around for a while.

Absinthe Sphere Of Influence Tour

20 09 2010

The Abinsthe Films Sphere of Influence Tour is on the road right now and hopefully coming to a town near you. On Saturday, the Absinthe crew rolled through New York City and premiered their new film “NowHere” to a packed house at NYU’s Cantor Film Center. A portion of the ticket proceeds benefited Stoked Mentoring and like every stop of the tour, there were prize giveaways including free gear and YES snowboards. Riders from the film like Nicolas Muller, Bjorn Leines, and Annie Boulanger were on site signing autographs and chilling with the fans, and although Vans Team Rider Wolle Nyvelt was on the Europe leg of the tour, his presence on film was felt by all. His No Board section of the film is ground breaking—you’ll have to see it to believe it. Mind blowing heli shots from Alaska, powder packed pillows for days and an epic soundtrack made for another Absinthe masterpiece. For full tour dates, check out www.absinthe-films.com.

Virgo Big Or Go Home With DJ Jayceeoh Party Pics

Photos by Ryan Bilawsky

If there’s one thing Denver knows it’s good DJs. Between the big nightclubs like Beta bringing in world-renowned talent and more intimate venues like Shag with special guests, chances are there’s always a good party going on somewhere. On September 8th, we cracked off another first at the “Virgo Big Or Go Home” party at Shag Lounge. DJ Jayceeoh came out from New York to make his first Denver appearance ever before kicking off his Alize Academy Tour in Boulder the next night, and some of Denver’s most prominent party peeps came out to help celebrate Virgo birthdays, which we had in abundance. Bottles were popped, the dance floor was filled with lovely ladies and good times were had by all.

Zac Marben in People’s “Cheers”

4 09 2010

Oakley Headquarters in Southern California played host to the world premiere of People’s “Cheers” last week to a packed house of some of snowboarding’s finest. All the pro shreds and industry heads were out in force to support the stellar lineup of snowboard legends like Jeremy Jones and J.P. Walker, as well as the next generation of rippers like Joe Sexton, who closed the film with a rail heavy barrage that both of the elders would be proud of. The movie also features Vans Team Rider Zac Marben, who came through with a stylish section despite a mid-season injury that took him out of the game early. The movie has a great soundtrack to accompany mind blowing backcounty parts from Shaun McKay, Eero Niemela and Mikey Rencz, as well as some amusing special effects that lighten up the mood and make for a truly enjoyable watching experience. Check it out on tour this fall somewhere or look for it in stores soon. You can also see more photos and a good review over on SnowboarderMag.com. Cheers!
